Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with global energy investors as the Federal Government continues efforts to increase crude oil production, attract investments, and accelerate the country's energy transition agenda.


The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, received in audience senior executives of TotalEnergies, led by Mr. Mike Sangster, Senior Vice President for Africa Exploration and Production, alongside Mr. Mathieu Bouyer, the company's In-Country Chairman for Nigeria.

The high-level meeting underscored the enduring partnership between the Federal Government and TotalEnergies, reflecting a shared commitment to promoting sustainable energy development, expanding upstream investments, and strengthening Africa's position as a competitive destination for responsible energy production.


During the engagement, the TotalEnergies delegation presented a comprehensive overview of the company's ongoing exploration and production activities, operational achievements, and long-term strategic priorities in Nigeria. The executives also highlighted key investment opportunities, technological innovations, and sustainability initiatives designed to enhance operational efficiency while supporting Nigeria's energy security objectives.


Speaking after the meeting, Senator Lokpobiri described the discussions as productive and insightful, noting that the briefing provided valuable perspectives on the company's operations and reinforced the government's determination to create an enabling environment for energy investors.


According to the Minister, the Federal Government remains committed to working closely with international oil companies and indigenous operators to unlock Nigeria's vast hydrocarbon resources while ensuring that development aligns with global best practices in environmental sustainability and economic growth.

He commended TotalEnergies for its continued leadership in innovation, responsible energy production, and long-term value creation, describing the company as a strategic partner in Nigeria's quest to increase crude oil output and drive sustainable economic development.
