The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) and Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic collaboration aimed at expanding Nigerian Content, increasing in-country value addition, and accelerating sustainable growth across Nigeria's gas sector.

The renewed commitment was made on Wednesday during a courtesy visit by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NLNG, Engr. Adeleye Falade, to the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, at the Board's Liaison Office in Lagos.

During the meeting, Engr. Falade disclosed that construction of the NLNG Train 7 Project has reached 90 percent completion, with pre-commissioning activities already underway. He announced that the project is scheduled for commissioning in 2027, a milestone expected to increase NLNG's production capacity by approximately 35 percent, significantly strengthening Nigeria's position in the global liquefied natural gas market.

He highlighted the project's substantial socio-economic impact, revealing that Train 7 has generated over 16,000 direct jobs, contributing to employment creation, improved livelihoods, enhanced security, and broader economic development.
Falade reaffirmed NLNG's unwavering commitment to advancing Nigerian Content by strengthening indigenous participation throughout the gas value chain, expanding local supply chains, enhancing technology transfer, and increasing value retention within the country.

According to him, NLNG remains committed to sustained collaboration with NCDMB to promote local capacity development and create greater opportunities for Nigerian businesses, professionals, service providers, and host communities.

"NLNG values its long-standing relationship with NCDMB and remains fully committed to our shared vision of strengthening Nigerian Content in the oil and gas industry. As a leading player in Nigeria's gas sector, we recognize our responsibility to build indigenous capacity, deepen local participation, and ensure that our operations continue to generate meaningful economic value for the nation," Falade stated.

He further emphasized that the company would continue working closely with the Board in critical areas including vendor development, skills enhancement, local procurement, technology transfer, and sustainable value creation.

Responding, the Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, congratulated Engr. Falade on his appointment and assured him of the Board's full support in achieving his leadership objectives.

Ogbe noted that the relationship between NCDMB and NLNG extends beyond that of regulator and operator, recalling the landmark Service Level Agreement (SLA) signed in June 2017 on Nigerian Content project approval timelines and compliance—a pioneering framework that later became an industry benchmark.

He also urged NLNG to intensify support for the Brass Shipyard Project, a flagship Capacity Development Initiative linked to the Train 7 Project. He described the proposed drydock facility as strategic national infrastructure that will not only support NLNG's operations but also strengthen Nigeria's marine and oil and gas service capabilities while creating additional employment and industrial opportunities.

The meeting forms part of NLNG's ongoing engagement with critical stakeholders across the energy industry and reinforces both organisations' shared commitment to accelerating local capacity development, promoting industrial competitiveness, and advancing Nigerian Content as a key driver of national economic transformation.
