Landmark 10th Anniversary Edition of SAIPEC 2026 Unveils Official Programme

Emmanuel Oduara

The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) has released the official programme for the landmark 10th edition of the Sub-Saharan Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC), scheduled to hold from 10–12 February 2026 at the Eko Convention Center, Lagos.

Now celebrating a decade of convening Africa’s foremost oil, gas, and energy stakeholders, SAIPEC 2026 will once again be hosted in strategic partnership with the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), NNPC Ltd., the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and AOS Orwell. The event will also welcome participation from more than 30 national oil companies, regulatory bodies, and government institutions across Sub-Saharan Africa.

A Decade of Growth, Strategic Partnership, and Continental Impact

Established in 2017 as WAIPEC — the West Africa International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference — with 148 delegates and two National Oil Companies (NOCs), the platform has since grown into a truly pan-African forum. SAIPEC 2025 recorded over 1,400 delegates and participation from 23 NOCs, with even greater representation anticipated in 2026.

The international exhibition has more than doubled in size, expanding from 35 exhibitors in its inaugural year to an expected 150+ exhibitors in 2026, representing sectors such as exploration, drilling, engineering, digitalisation, and energy transition technologies.

Over the past decade, SAIPEC has facilitated millions of dollars in contracts and collaborations, catalysing major projects and investments across Africa’s energy value chain. “From a regional platform to a continental force, SAIPEC has evolved into Africa’s leading meeting place for oil, gas, and energy dialogue,” said Mr. Ibe Chubby Ibe, PETAN/SAIPEC Conference Chairman. “Our tenth anniversary marks both a celebration and a call to action — to shape the next decade of sustainable growth through collaboration, innovation, and African content leadership.”

Charting Africa’s Energy Future: Highlights of the 2026 Programme

Day One will commence with welcome remarks from senior government authorities and industry leaders, followed by keynote addresses reflecting on SAIPEC’s decade-long contributions. A high-level regulatory panel will examine sector reforms, investment frameworks, and opportunities to unlock new exploration and production activities.

Country spotlight sessions will highlight upstream, midstream, and refining developments in Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Namibia, Senegal, Mozambique, and other key African markets. The Investment Forum will feature discussions on capital deployment, risk mitigation, and financing mechanisms for emerging energy ventures.

Day Two will focus on “Africa’s Gas Opportunity – A Pillar for Industrialisation and Export.” Sessions will examine LNG prospects, domestic gas infrastructure expansions, and cross-border collaborations.

Panels on local content development and indigenous capacity will explore policies, project models, and supplier development pathways. The day will conclude with the 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner and SAIPEC Awards, honouring industry pioneers and long-term partners advancing Africa’s energy growth.

Day Three will spotlight the future workforce, opening with a keynote on diversity, equity, and leadership transformation. The DEI Leadership Panel will feature women and youth leaders shaping technical and executive roles, followed by the SPE Futures For

New Features for the 2026 Edition

SAIPEC 2026 will introduce a number of new value-driven features, including in-country roundtables, a Local Content Pitching Session, and an expanded technical conference offering deeper insights into engineering, project delivery, and technological advancements.

Networking will remain a defining component of the event, with exclusive receptions, business luncheons, and PETAN’s signature golf day designed to stimulate high-impact partnerships and investment dialogues.

The international exhibition will showcase state-of-the-art digital solutions, field optimisation technologies, and sustainability-driven innovations shaping Africa’s evolving energy ecosystem.

Additionally, as part of the extended 10th Anniversary Celebratory Week, the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) will host the Local Content – African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) Energy Summit on 9 February 2026. This high-level gathering will examine the opportunities presented by AfCFTA for boosting intra-African energy trade and enhancing local content participation across the continent.

Sub-Saharan Africaf remains central to global energy diversification, underpinned by vast hydrocarbon reserves, expanding gas markets, and an accelerating drive toward renewable integration. Over the past decade, SAIPEC has served as a vital platform for collaboration, investment mobilisation, and knowledge exchange within the continent’s energy sector.

SAIPEC 2026 will once again convene policymakers, operators, investors, and innovators to define the next chapter of Africa’s energy future — ensuring inclusive, sustainable growth that benefits its people and economies.
