As the contest for election into the national executive committee of National Youth Council of Nigeria, (NYCN) intensifies, student unionist and youth activist, Comrade Shettima Umar has formally declared his intention and unveiled his manifesto for the position of president, National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of his manifesto in Abuja yesterday, the youth activist said youth empowerment through agriculture, ICT skills, youth participation in governance and peace building will be his priority even as he pledged accountability and transparency if elected.
He stressed that his wealth of experience garnered over the years as National President, Borno state student association as well as national official of National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS among others will be brought to bear on his mandate as NYCN president.
The Borno State-born youth activist pledged to take NYCN to greater heights even as he maintained that Nigerian youths' welfare would be his priority.
In a goodwill message, a former chairman, Borno state chapter of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ALGON, Comrade Chiroma Usman, averred that Shettima Umar is a tested and trusted fellow who has no reason to fail Nigerian youths if elected president of the Council.
Similarly, the Personal Assistant to Vice President Kashim Shettima on Domestic Affairs, Comrade Mahmud Muhammad endorsed the candidacy of Shettima Umar, insisting that NYCN has a bright future with Shettima as next president of the union.
In the same vein, former NANS senate president, Comrade Felix Nnalue and a student unionist, Comrade Adam Ali extolled the leadership qualities of Shettima Umar and wished him success in his presidential bid.
