The Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN), Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, yesterday held a strategic meeting in Houston with the leadership of Frontier Group and representatives of Regions Bank, a U.S.-based financial institution. The meeting aimed to advance
Nigeria’s Energy Transformation Agenda through joint project development, diaspora capital mobilization, and the integration of global financing and technology solutions.
In his opening address, Dr. Abdullahi described the engagement as both timely and strategic, reaffirming ECN’s commitment to collaboration as the key to unlocking sustainable energy solutions for Nigeria’s future. "Nigeria stands at a pivotal point in its energy development journey.
As we strive to meet our energy demands while honoring global sustainability commitments, the need for innovation, structured finance, and trusted partnerships has never been greater,” he stated.
He praised Frontier Group for introducing the GWA platform to attract diaspora investment through transparent global financing channels. The meeting was attended by key figures, including Mr. Ben Akabueze, Chairman of Frontier Group and renowned public finance expert; Mr. Chigozie S. Oguine, CEO of Frontier Group; Mr. Emmanuel Iwuoha, Director at Frontier Group; and Mr. Thomas Matthias of Regions Bank. Also present was Mr. Eric Guichard, a partner in the Global Wealth Access Platform and Energy Fund Advisor.
Dr. Abdullahi reiterated ECN’s readiness to move from dialogue to delivery, noting, “This collaboration reflects a bold step forward in aligning our national energy priorities with global best practices and partnerships.” The Commission remains committed to unlocking opportunities that will drive sustainable growth, energy security, and inclusive development for Nigeria.
