GOV. ENO COMMISSIONS BAYELSA ROAD, HAILS BAYELSA COUNTERPART AS A DARING LEADER

”…We want our roads to be like Akwa Ibom roads” – Gov. Diri

Emmanuel Oduara

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has described his counterpart in Bayelsa State, Governor Douye Diri, as a pragmatic leader with a daring and committed spirit for transformation.

Speaking at the commissioning of Road 2, New Yenagoa City, Governor Eno, who was the special guest of honor at the event, said that given the difficult terrain of the state and the condition of the road before and after construction, it could only take a daring leader to embark on such a project.

He commended Governor Diri for inviting him to commission the project and for providing an opportunity to learn how to create new cities and drive progress.

Governor Eno noted that PDP governors, especially in the South-South, were making significant strides, as evident in Bayelsa State, and urged the people of the state to continue supporting Governor Diri and the party to achieve more.

He emphasized that support and encouragement are essential in motivating a leader to serve better, adding that, “When a leader is supported and encouraged, he gets inspired to do more; otherwise, he could relent in his efforts.”

Governor Eno, who has recorded laudable achievements in Akwa Ibom State in less than two years at the helm of affairs, congratulated Governor Diri on his development strides within one year of his second term. He also announced that he would invite him to commission some projects during his second anniversary in May 2025.

“We trust that more roads and several other projects will be commissioned in Bayelsa State as we continue to partner within the South-South to strengthen trade, commerce, and development in the region,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the host, Governor Diri, stated that Road 2 measures 2.1km and is a dual carriageway with a 7.3-meter width on either side, constructed to international standards.

He noted that, unlike in the past, the road was built to the highest quality standards, similar to those in Akwa Ibom State, adding, “We want our roads to be like Akwa Ibom roads because Akwa Ibom has some of the best roads in Nigeria.”

Governor Diri appreciated his special guest for accepting the invitation to commission the road and assured him of more collaborative efforts for the development of the region.
