Nigeria To Participate in Culture Festival in Canada, Nigeria will participate in the World Junkanoo Festival for Tourism and Culture in Vaughan City, Canada, coming up on 4th - 8th July 2024, to showcase the country’s cultural heritage and tourism potential, the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy have revealed.
Nigeria’s country representative from the ministry, Amb. Prince Felix Ihonre, who made this revelation in Abuja yesterday,
While speaking to Newsmen, where Hypenews reporters monitored.
"He said the festival is being organised by the World Junkanoo Festival Foundation, World Carnival Commission, Africa Caribbean Social Development Council and Supported by the Ontario Black History Society among others.
President Bola Tinubu administration, sports, tourism, ecotourism, medical tourism and cultural entertainment promotions at the local, state, regional and international levels have received tremendous boosts and support from government at all levels, he said
He however noted, that Nigeria is ready to showcase it's cultural heritage and tourism potential to a global audience through various expressions, including music, dancing, choreography, masquerade exhibition, art , fashion and more.
"It is important to let the world know that it has been over 400 years and it is time to teach the next generation our culture and tradition, most especially Africans in the diaspora.
"He further, stated they anticipat the honorable presence and active participation of custodians of our cultural heritage worldwide, including the Obong of Calabar, Ooni of Ife, Oba of Benin, the Supreme Traditional Rulers Council of Akwa Ibom and Mbale of Abia from Nigeria; the Ashanti, Akyem, Fante among others.
"He also pointed out that the highly anticipated ECOWAS FOOD AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL (EFCF) will now take place on 6th - 11th October 2024, to be co-hosted by Akwa Ibom State and Cross River State Government.
"welcome all members states and international community to participate in this spectacular event by showcasing their rich cultural heritage and flavourful traditional cuisines of different regions with great funfare, he stressed.
Amb. Ihonre said the festival will feature distinguished speakers expected, to share their insights, expertise, understanding of cultura heritage during the events are; Antoine Henry – World Carnival Commission (Canada), Shirley Shellingford (Boston Canal ), and Dr. Kurt Henry (Jamaica). Dr Grace Khadijatu Kamara (Sierra Leone), Ms Jemma Jordan (Trinidad and Tobago), and Ms Frances Delso BBPA Canada among other notable speakers.
