Bishop Ozoemena stated this in an interview with journalists at the commemoration ceremony of the 2024 World Peace Day celebration, unveiling and commissioning of UN-PEPOLAC as well as investiture and appointment of peace ambassadors in Abuja.
The event, with the theme: "Sustainable Development Goals Resources: Cornerstone of Peace", featured recognition awards, investiture and appointment of individuals and organizations for their efforts in peace building and advocacy as well as humanitarian services.
The International coordinator insisted that the antecedents of the recipients and honorees earned them the recognitions.
He explained that "the event is not just about the awards but also the appointments. We are changing human behavior; we are protecting the nation's image, and we are also protecting individual image".
Uzoemena urged the awardees to double their peace efforts and initiatives as peace agents so as to enthrone a peaceful society, warning however, that any recipient who deviates would be corrected.
The Convener explained that "we are bringing all stakeholders together to make the world a better place - towards the direction of peace which is the panacea for progress, and the way out of the problems facing the nation."
Some of the awardees including Dr Oluwakemi Olaiya who runs poverty alleviation programs for children and widows, and Benjamin Nwabuike Ezeokafor appreciated the honor accorded them by the organization.
Other eminent Nigerians including the FCT minister, Nyeson Wike; Anambra state first lady Nonye Soludo and an Assistant Director with the Federal Inland Revenue Service, Garba Mohammed also bagged different categories of awards.
