Driving Economic Prosperity, Cross River State Targets High Return of Investments, Redefining Energy Architecture of Cross River State Using Sustainable Fuels - Prince Eka. 

The Hon. Commissioner for Power and Renewable Energy Prince Eka Williams stated this in the opening of Cross River State Expo 2024 organized by the government with theme: Redefining Energy Architecture of Cross River Using Sustainable Fuels, 25th -26th March 2024.

He mentioned, Gov. Otu has cleared all bottle necks to enbla the ease of doing business, through the ministry of finance headed by Hon. Micheal Odere, Commissioner of Finance. Tasking stakeholders and major investors ensuring them of high return of investment in the State while answering questions from newsmen in Calabar. 

He noted the State's ambition to play a significant role in the renewable energy sector and stressed the importance of expanding energy resources to ensure availability and affordability. 

The Cross River State government  has concluded plans to invest in the energy sector in order to generate employment for youths. The sector, according to the Commissioner is expected to also generate revenue for the state government in view of the dwindling funds brought about by the loss of 76 oil wells that used to belong to the state.

"He said this energy expo will identify areas where the government will invest in,  with a deliberate intention to tap from the outcome of the expo"

He said: “The energy sector is one of the most outstanding ways of bringing the state back to winning ways,”   especially tapping into the natural gas due to huge deposit in the state, among other reasons, prompted the state to “strategize and implement quick-win initiatives to attract conventional and alternative investments to finance development projects.” 

Earlier in his welcome address the Hon. Commissioner Prince Eka Williams stated a huge opportunities in energy and other minerals and natural resources . 

Also the Hon. Commissioner of Power and Renewable Energy, Prince Eka Williams and Hon. Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Micheal Odere held a side meetings with some local and foreign investors where some agreements reached.
